Aw, shucks.
We definitely think we’re pretty great, but come on, we’re Minnesotan. We’re a little too shy to sing our own praises. Luckily, we have clients who are happy to do so on our behalf.
“We cannot say enough good things about Two Bettys. Not only do they provide an excellent clean every other week, but we are inspired to KEEP our house cleaner on the off weeks…and we feel so good about the green cleaning products that are used!”
- Monica & Kenny Larson
“Ever since Two Bettys started cleaning my house, people tell me I’m better looking, my dog respects me, and I get 329 miles per gallon in my truck…oh and my wife likes the fact that my half-baked attempt at cleaning is a thing of the past….”
- Satisfied “Brad Pitt-like” Client (aka Stephen Wozniak)
“I always look forward to the day Two Bettys comes to my condo. Even the remotes on my coffee table are organized! I would recommend Two Bettys to anyone. It’s so nice that I can depend on them – and it makes my life easier!”
- Kara Lynum
“I have two dogs, two cats, two kids, and most of the time, a pretty big mess. My Betty not only tolerates my animals, she loves them. I have found her talking to my dog, Penny, while scrubbing my bathroom floor and humming/singing while doing other not so fun tasks around the house. I love Two Bettys!”
- Holly Miller-Byzewski
“At Thorn we couldn’t live without Two Bettys Green Cleaning Service! They truly value the relationships that they build with their clients. We know the minute we walk in the office the morning after they have cleaned that they were there the night before. And we have a few things in common: we love supporting local, green, independent businesses, and love a clean office!”
- Traci Plourde, Thorn Creative
“The Bettys’ appreciation for my green values makes me rest at ease. I was apprehensive about taking on a cleaning service for feeling too lazy or pretentious, however throw in that I feel like I’m supporting artists at the same time and it’s an easy choice.”
- Robb Doser
“This year, I am working part time and my partner is on sabbatical. With a decrease in income we weren’t sure if we could continue with Two Bettys. In fact the first thing I asked was ‘Please tell me we don’t have to get rid of the Bettys!’”
- Cary Sfikas
“We still can’t get over how awesome it is to have Two Bettys clean our house! We love our Betty, we appreciate Two Bettys eco-friendly products and methods, and we love supporting a local, community-focused company. Two Bettys is the best!”
- Courtney Remes & Kevin Riach
We wouldn’t be Two Bettys without them. They are interesting, warm hearted, curious, talented individuals. It is truly our pleasure to tell you a bit more about some of our Bettys.
Michelle Carter
Before joining the ranks of Two Bettys, I traveled around the country working and volunteering in camps, national parks, farms, and restaurants. My journey has been directed by interests in health, environmental preservation, social justice, and the BEAUTIFUL ORDINARY. I love playing OUTSIDE in all seasons, and am especially fond of my BICYCLE. I also love spending time in my garden and kitchen nurturing plants in order to prepare and ferment creative FOODS with LOVE (think kim chi, black-eyed pea tempeh, and kombucha). My favorite food is COCONUT. I have a soft spot in my heart for ANIMALS and CHILDREN, and I love to play games, especially HIDE-AND-GO-SEEK, CHARADES, and SCRABBLE. One of my all-time favorite things in life is being in good company around a CAMPFIRE.
I have found home, community, and a wonderful job as a BETTY in Minneapolis and that all feels AMAZING. I think I’ll be sticking around for a while!
Soon Dodge
I have been a Betty since September 2008, and am now a trainer for Two Bettys. I am a 28-year-old Saint Paul resident and a student at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, where I study Graphic and Web design. In my free time I pick up freelance design projects and make (sometimes strange) low-brow art. I’ve been engaged for 3 years but I’m scared to plan the wedding!
Ayla Mia Graden
I grew up in South Minneapolis and went to college in Asheville, North Carolina for Global and Environmental Studies. I am now working towards a certification as a Doula with aspirations of midwifery school in the future. I rent studio space where I throw functional pottery and have been doing this on and off for the last 10 years. I spend my time playing banjo, tending to my 11 chickens, going on massive walks with my very energetic border collie, Sula, staying busy on a multitude of projects and trying to think of ways to use up all the eggs that I have (quiche, soufflé…)! I also really love to be outside, especially in my garden.
Kat Hargreaves
Kat Hargreaves is living the dream as a writer, blogger, and artist when she’s not busy being a Betty. Her current projects include developing and co-helming the local zine and art publication Whole Beast Rag, working on a forthcoming chapbook of poetry, and freelance illustration and curating when she’s not agonizing over her pet blog. Her interests include other crafties such as knitting and collages, going on self-designed scavenger hunts, drinking (and now making!) good beer, taking walks, and reading and cooking as much as she possibly can.
Mary Kerr
I’ve been a Betty for just over three years now, and it is definitely one of the best working arrangements ever. I get to set my own schedule, meet incredible people (the clients!), get paid a decent wage, and do something I’m really good at! I have become quite the homebody since I moved into a beautiful Whittier duplex four years ago. I share this huge place with my friend Dan, three feline critters, and lots of plants. My studio is here too, where I am in continual construction of mixed media pieces. I love gardening indoors and out, cooking healthy food, and riding my bike in non-winter conditions!
Taja Will
Performer and choreographer Taja Will has been called “one to watch, one to embrace” by Metro Magazine. She received their 2010 Keeper Award for outstanding artist in the Twin Cities. Will’s work investigates states of human consciousness through vehicle of body in movement, voice, and text. Critics call her work “raw, inventive, emotional, and dangerous.” In addition to making performances, Will is a faculty member of Zenon Dance School where she teaches a weekly embodied anatomy and yoga class and workshops in contact improvisation and choreography. When she is not dancing or cleaning Will enjoys long walks, biking, seeing local artists, and drinking coffee.
Mandy Tensen Wollery
Hi! I’m Mandy. When I’m not scrubbing away the hours with Two Bettys, I’m studying Graphic Design and moonlighting as a musician with my awesome band, Ghost in the Water. I love bright colors, dogs, and coffee and I’ll happily chat up your furry pup while eliminating the dust bunnies that live under your sofa. I enjoy working for Two Bettys because I love the happiness a clean house brings to my clients. Being able to help them manage their busy lives by relieving the stress of a messy house is very rewarding to me. And it makes my Grandma proud.
